David Hecht was born a stone’s throw away from the Mexican border in South Texas. He began playing guitar at age 12, cutting his musical teeth on Tex-Mex Swing, Mariachi, Latin music, and the rock and funk of the ’60s and ’70s. As a teenager, he moved to Madison, WI, where he first met and jammed with the Neviaser Brothers. David went on to form the acclaimed touring and recording group, JAVA, which claimed fans from all over the U.S., Canada, and beyond, performing with such notable Artists as Elton John, The Pointer Sisters, Jimmy Buffet, Third World, Dr. John, The Neville Brothers, and Los Lobos.
